10 Sustainable Thoughts for 2025

It is that time of year again where we all make resolutions on all aspects of our lives and what we would like to achieve for the upcoming year. A sense of a fresh start and renewal arrives every year for a clean slate.

This is the perfect time to reassess your daily habits and how switching to a more sustainable lifestyle can be easily incorporated into any goals be they business or personal. Below are my ten thoughts to prioritizing a more environmentally compassionate 2025………

10 Ways for a Sustainable 2025
  1. Invest in Mindful Brands - Spend More! Whether it be fashion, travel or groceries then value quality over quantity. Sustainable Brands provide longer wear, more meaningful memories on trips and longer health benefits overall.

  2. Environmental Certifications vs Credentials- B Corp is the standard now for UK businesses, although not all small businesses have invested yet. Look into a brand’s story and how they operate as many of the best responsible brands are not yet certified but are legislated to be in the future.

  3. Plastic Detox- Cutting out plastic bottles and bags is not enough. Shopping locally in markets and organic shops helps to cut down plastic packaging on fruit and vegetables, but also cutting out microplastics in beauty products and synthetic vegan leather.

  4. Cut Toxins - There is awareness about toxins in food and beauty products but petrochemicals have been found in fast fashion brands. Health problems associated with toxic dyes and chemicals in the manufacturing proccess are coming to light including skin diseases and respiratory problems.

  5. Change Dietary Habits- The warming level of the planet and the yearly sustainability threshold is being surpassed earlier every year. Mass farming and overfishing lead to ecosystem collapses. In 2025 embracing a plant based lifestyle has never been easier so there has never been a better time to explore cutting meat down or out of your diet.

  6. Travel with Meaning - Choosing to holiday to destinations that put significance on preserving the environment and local community. Greenwashing is prevelant in travel so looking into conservaion iniatives, resorts made from local materials, stories about the destination that can help to make more responsible choices.

  7. Circularity & Upcycling - Recycling is not enough. Waste and clothing mountains globally are an indicator of this. Placing products we own and investments back into a circular economy as well as moving business towards this model leads towards responsible but essential models for the future.

  8. Back to Nature- Grow your own vegetables or shop directly from farmers. Make your own skincare from organic ingredients at home or use natural products. Reconnect with nature on holidays, activities and invest in natural fibres such as organic bamboo sheets. Small steps towards a more natural way of living holistically.

  9. Wardrobe Cleanout - Giving clothes to charity or brands recycling contributes to clothing mountains in areas like the Atacama Desert. Swapping with friends or selling preloved keeps it in circulation. Going clean with materials and higher quality sustainable brands that contribute to communities directly for future purchases helps to consume ethically.

  10. Invest in Communities - Make sure your money is going back into the community on every level whether it be shopping in local markets at home or abroad with purchases straight to the vendor, travelling to destinations that support local community initiatives or immersing yourself in local community projects.
